Weekend recap. Huskies remain undefeated as Shockwaves, Waffles & Owls get 1st wins
Last-Second Heroics Seal Huskies’ Perfect Run
The Huskies kept their perfect season intact with a gritty 4–3 victory over the Road Runners, showcasing both resilience and composure under pressure. In a tightly contested matchup, the Huskies built an early lead but were forced to dig deep as the Road Runners battled back, tying the game with just 42 seconds left. In dramatic fashion, Brady Van Herk answered for the Huskies, scoring the game-winner with eight seconds remaining to seal the victory. Leading the charge was Narwal, who delivered a standout performance with two goals and two assists for a four-point night.
Shockwaves pick up first win of season
After jumping out to a 2–0 lead, the Shockwaves looked firmly in control early, setting the tone with a strong opening frame. But the Tropics clawed one back late in the first period to make it 2–1, shifting the energy heading into the intermission and tightening what had started as a comfortable lead.
From there, the Shockwaves responded with authority. In the second period, they rebuilt momentum with two goals to stretch the gap again, and they carried that same intensity into the third, adding another two unanswered markers to put the game out of reach. In total, four straight goals across the final two periods sealed the outcome, as the Shockwaves shut the door and secured their first win of the season in commanding fashion. Leading the charge was captain Dylan Malinga, who paced the offence with a goal and two assists for a game-high three-point night.
Monstars Get Toasted as Waffles Cook Up a 6-1 Win
After an opening-night loss, the Waffles bounced back in a big way, delivering a dominant 6–1 win over the Monstars in convincing fashion. The Waffles set the tone early and never let up, piling on five unanswered goals that completely took control of the game and left the Monstars chasing from behind. The Monstars eventually got one back, but it proved to be too little, too late as the Waffles quickly responded with a sixth goal to slam the door shut and secure a statement victory. Leading the charge was captain Brett Butterworth, who orchestrated the offence with a standout performance, finishing the night with one goal and three assists.
Owls Bounce Back to Soar to First Win of the Season
The Owls opened their doubleheader with a 5–2 loss to the District 69ers, unable to keep pace after a competitive start. The 69ers gradually took control of the game, capitalizing on their chances and pulling away to hand the Owls the setback.
But the response in the second game was emphatic, as the Owls rebounded with a commanding 9–2 victory over the Tropics to secure their first win of the season. The offence clicked on all cylinders as they overwhelmed the Tropics throughout the game. Cody Askin led the charge with a dominant five-point outing, scoring three goals and adding two assists, while Nathan Cyr also played a key role with two goals and two assists.
